Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is becoming increasingly common: it is estimated that 1 in 5 Australians will suffer from chronic pain within their lifespan. It could be 3 months, 3 years, or 3 decades, but it is real - chronic pain is not just all in your head.

In fact, chronic pain is now recognized as its own condition:

"Chronic pain has a distinct pathology, causing changes throughout the nervous system that often worsen over time. It has significant psychological and cognitive correlates and can constitute a serious, separate disease entity."
- Relieving Pain in America, Report by US Institute of Medicine, 2011

That's right! It basically takes on a life of its own and rearranges your nervous system to suit itself.

The most common cause of chronic pain is injury at 38%. However, another third of people with chronic pain are not able to identify a cause. Arthritis, musculoskeletal conditions, nervous system conditions, connective tissue conditions and cancer-related pain are just a few other causes or contributors to chronic pain.

Chronic pain is not only an experience of physical pain; people can also experience side effects from medications for their pain, depression, anxiety, anger issues, and feelings of isolation and hopelessness.

But you're not alone, and you don't have to let the pain take over your life. Which is where I come in.

The most important step isn't picking the most popular treatment or seeing the most specialists - it is getting support from someone who understands you and is willing to work with you, at your pace, towards your needs.

'As a nutritionist who specializes in chronic health conditions, I know that just telling you to eat right isn't the solution.

I know that there are days where getting out of bed is hard enough, and then there's days where you're doing ok.

I know that sometimes it's the fatigue that is disabling.

I know that friends often don't understand why you cancel on them, because you seem fine when they see you.

I have been there, both in my own life and with other chronic clients, and I want to help you find a better place to be.

I have seen the amazing results that nutritional and lifestyle support can have in chronic pain clients, and I want to see your success story next. I want to see you thrive despite chronic health issues.

Do you?'
